The popularity and accessibility of genre fiction—such as mystery, fantasy, sci-fi, horror, and more—are on the rise in the Arab world. These types of books are not only drawing in more Arabic readers but also have the potential to transcend borders and languages.

For international publishers, genre fiction is a familiar and accessible entry point to discover and translate more Arabic writing. By translating these books, foreign publishers can establish long-lasting relationships with Arabic publishers and pave the way for a broader range of Arabic literature to be translated into more languages.

This B2B publishing event is made possible by the Sheikh Zayed Book Award in cooperation with the international book trade magazine Publishing Perspectives. The Sheikh Zayed Book Award is committed to showcasing world-class writing from the Arab world. Along with that mission, the award provides translation funding and supports Arabic publishers—through events like this one—to find international industry connections, visibility, and translation deals.
